Jewellers Reviews

Editorial Policy

This policy explains how we produce content, how we maintain independence, and what standards every piece of writing on Jewellers Reviews must meet before it is published.

Last updated: June 2026  ·  This policy applies to all editorial content published on jewellersreviews.com
🎯
Accuracy
Facts are checked before publication. Errors are corrected promptly and transparently.
⚖️
Independence
Advertisers and businesses have zero influence over what we write or how we rate.
🔍
Transparency
We disclose commercial relationships clearly. Readers always know when content is sponsored.
🤝
Fairness
We represent all sides of an issue and give businesses the opportunity to respond to criticism.
Jewellers Reviews exists to help people make better jewellery buying decisions. Everything we publish — from buying guides and brand analyses to news and opinion — is produced with that single goal in mind. This editorial policy sets out the principles, processes, and standards that govern how we create and publish content. It applies to every member of our editorial team, every contributor, and every piece of content that carries the Jewellers Reviews name.
Section 01

Our editorial mission

Our editorial mission is straightforward: to produce accurate, honest, and useful content that helps jewellery buyers make informed decisions and understand the market they are shopping in.

We achieve this by combining original reporting, expert analysis, and real consumer reviews — always with the reader's best interests at the centre. We do not exist to promote jewellery brands. We do not exist to drive sales. We exist to give buyers the information they need to spend their money wisely.

This means we will publish content that is critical of businesses when the evidence supports it. It means we will correct ourselves when we are wrong. And it means we will always be transparent about who we are, how we work, and how our site is funded.

Section 02

Editorial independence

Jewellers Reviews maintains a strict separation between its editorial team and its commercial operations. This is not a guideline — it is a firm rule with no exceptions.

1

Advertisers have no editorial access

Businesses that advertise on Jewellers Reviews have no ability to influence, review, approve, or reject any editorial content — including content about themselves. Advertising relationships are not disclosed to editorial staff when they are producing content.

2

Ratings are calculated independently

Business ratings on this platform are calculated automatically from verified user reviews. No commercial relationship — advertising, sponsorship, claimed profile, or any other — affects a business's star rating or position in search results.

3

No content is published in exchange for coverage

We do not accept payment, products, or services in exchange for editorial coverage, positive articles, or review treatment. Any product or service received for review purposes is disclosed clearly in the relevant content.

4

Commercial pressure does not change editorial decisions

If a business, advertiser, or partner requests changes to editorial content for commercial reasons, that request is declined. If a business threatens to withdraw advertising unless content is changed, that content will not be changed — and the threat itself may be reported.

🔒 If you believe our editorial independence has been compromised in any piece of content, we want to know. Please contact editorial@jewellersreviews.com with details.
Section 03

Types of content we publish

Jewellers Reviews publishes several distinct types of content. Each type has different standards and disclosure requirements, which are clearly explained below.

📝
Editorial articles
Buying guides, brand profiles, industry news, and jewellery education pieces written by our editorial team. Fully independent — no commercial input.
Written by verified buyers about their real purchasing experiences. Moderated but not authored by Jewellers Reviews.
User reviews
🔬
Research & analysis
Data-driven pieces analysing review trends, industry patterns, or consumer behaviour. Methodology disclosed in full within the article.
💬
Opinion & commentary
Clearly labelled opinion pieces from our team or named contributors. Represent the author's view, not the position of Jewellers Reviews.
📢
Sponsored content
Produced in partnership with a paying brand. Always clearly labelled "Sponsored" or "In partnership with [Brand]" at the top of the content. Editorial team reviews for accuracy but commercial partner approves final copy.
🔗
Affiliate content
Articles containing affiliate links to products or services. The editorial recommendation is made independently — links are added after, not before, the recommendation is written. Affiliate relationships are disclosed.
👁️ Every piece of content on Jewellers Reviews carries a label indicating its type. If you cannot identify what type of content you are reading, that is an editorial failure — please report it to editorial@jewellersreviews.com.
Section 04

Writing & accuracy standards

Every piece of editorial content published on Jewellers Reviews must meet the following standards before it is approved for publication.

✓ Accuracy
  • All factual claims must be supported by credible, verifiable sources — industry reports, official brand statements, regulatory bodies, or accredited experts
  • Gemological claims (stone grades, certification bodies, metal standards) must be verified against GIA, IGI, Assay Office, or equivalent authoritative source
  • Pricing, product details, and availability are accurate at time of publication but marked with publication date so readers can verify currency
  • Statistics and survey data must include methodology, sample size, and source
✓ Fairness
  • When we publish critical analysis of a specific business or individual, we contact them for comment before publication and include their response where provided
  • Opinion and fact are clearly distinguished — opinion pieces are labelled as such
  • We represent the strongest version of opposing arguments — we do not strawman positions we disagree with
  • Comparisons between businesses use consistent methodology applied equally to all parties
Additional standards
  • No plagiarism. All content is original. Where we draw on other sources, we cite them clearly. Content is checked for originality before publication.
  • Clear attribution. Every article carries the name of its author and the date of publication. Guest contributors are identified by name and relevant credentials.
  • No misleading headlines. Headlines must accurately reflect the content of the article. Clickbait headlines that exaggerate, sensationalise, or misrepresent the content are not permitted.
  • Accessible language. We write for informed general readers, not specialists. Technical jewellery or gemological terms are explained in plain language on first use.
  • Images and media. All images used in editorial content must be properly licensed. We do not use competitor product images or images that misrepresent a product.
Section 05

Commercial content & disclosure

Jewellers Reviews is a free platform for consumers. To sustain that, we generate revenue through advertising, sponsored content, and affiliate partnerships. We are committed to full transparency about how these commercial relationships work.

Advertising

Display advertising may appear on the platform. Advertising placements are sold by our commercial team, completely separately from editorial operations. Advertisers do not receive editorial coverage, preferential ratings, or any influence over our content as part of an advertising arrangement.

Sponsored content

Occasionally we produce sponsored content in partnership with jewellery brands. This content is always clearly marked "Sponsored" or "In partnership with [Brand Name]" at the very top of the article — never buried in a footnote. Sponsored content must still meet our accuracy standards, but it is written with input from the commercial partner and represents a paid arrangement.

Affiliate links

Some articles on Jewellers Reviews contain affiliate links — where we earn a small commission if a reader clicks through and makes a purchase. This never influences our editorial recommendations. We recommend products and services on editorial merit first; affiliate links are added where available after that decision is made. Articles containing affiliate links carry the disclosure: "This article contains affiliate links."

💡 Our rule: if a commercial relationship could reasonably affect how a reader interprets our content, we disclose it. When in doubt, we disclose. If you ever see content on our platform that you believe has an undisclosed commercial relationship, please tell us.
Section 06

User-generated reviews

User reviews are a distinct category of content — they are written by members of the public, not by our editorial team, and represent personal opinions and experiences rather than Jewellers Reviews editorial positions.

  • User reviews are moderated against our Review Guidelines before publication but are not edited for tone, opinion, or content beyond guideline compliance
  • Our editorial team does not author or contribute to user reviews
  • The star rating of a business reflects the aggregate of verified user reviews — not the editorial assessment of Jewellers Reviews
  • We do not remove user reviews because a business disagrees with them — removal only occurs when a review breaches our guidelines
  • For a full explanation of how reviews are verified and moderated, see our How We Verify Reviews page
Section 07

Corrections & updates

We make mistakes. When we do, we correct them transparently — we do not quietly delete content or pretend errors didn't happen.

📌 Factual corrections
  • 1When a factual error is identified, it is corrected as quickly as possible — typically within 24 hours of being flagged
  • 2The correction is noted at the bottom of the article with the date it was made and a brief explanation of what changed
  • 3Significant corrections — where the error materially affected the conclusions of the piece — are disclosed prominently at the top of the article
🔄 Content updates
  • 1Articles are reviewed periodically and updated when information becomes outdated — for example, if a business closes or changes ownership
  • 2Updated articles carry both an original publication date and a "Last updated" date so readers know when the content was reviewed
  • 3Substantive updates — where new information significantly changes our assessment — are noted explicitly within the article
📮 To report an inaccuracy in any piece of content, please email editorial@jewellersreviews.com with the article URL and the specific claim you believe to be incorrect. We take every correction request seriously.
Section 08

Our editorial process

Every piece of editorial content on Jewellers Reviews goes through the following stages before publication.

1

Commissioning & briefing

Topics are selected based on reader value — what will genuinely help someone buying jewellery. Commercial teams have no input into topic selection for editorial content. A brief is produced outlining scope, angle, and required sources.

2

Research & drafting

The writer researches the topic using credible primary and secondary sources. For brand or business analysis, this includes reviewing publicly available data, consumer feedback, and — where relevant — contacting the business directly for comment.

3

Editorial review

A second editorial team member reviews the draft for accuracy, fairness, tone, and guideline compliance. Factual claims are checked against sources. The reviewer has no knowledge of any commercial relationship involving subjects covered in the piece.

4

Right to respond

Where content is critical of a specific named business, that business is contacted for comment before publication and given a reasonable timeframe to respond. Their response is included in the article or noted if they declined to comment.

5

Publication & monitoring

Approved content is published with the author's name, publication date, and appropriate category label. Published articles are monitored for reader feedback and updated when new information requires it.

Section 09

Conflicts of interest

We take conflicts of interest seriously and expect all editorial team members and contributors to disclose potential conflicts before beginning work on any piece of content.

  • No writer may produce editorial content about a business in which they have a financial interest — as an investor, employee, owner, or immediate family member
  • No writer may produce content about a business that has gifted them products or services in the past 12 months without full disclosure
  • Writers with a prior professional relationship with a subject must declare it before the piece is assigned — it will be reassigned where appropriate
  • Personal opinions held by writers about businesses or industry figures must not influence how they present facts in editorial content
  • Any undisclosed conflict of interest discovered after publication results in the article being reviewed, updated, or reassigned to a new author
⚖️ If you are aware of an undisclosed conflict of interest in any of our editorial content, we encourage you to report it to editorial@jewellersreviews.com. We will investigate and respond to every substantiated report.
